NAME: Peter Von Starck


Biography: Founded La Panetiere and brought Georges Perrier to Philadelphia.


Peter Frederick von Starck, 42, owner of La Panetiere, one of Philadelphia's most prestigious French restaurants, died Monday in his Center City home. His death was attributed to internal hemorrhaging. Von Starck was known to have suffered from gout and ulcers. Von Starck is credited with helping start a renaissance in the Philadelphia restaurant business in late 1967 when he opened La Panetiere at 1312 Spruce St. The restaurant later moved to its present location at 1602Published on 1984-06-27, Page 5, Philadelphia Daily News (PA)
