Biography: He was a professor of English at Temple University.

Richard C. Newton, 46, associate professor of English and former chairman of Temple University's English department, died Nov. 27 at his home in the West Mount Airy section of the city. His death was announced by the university yesterday.

Recognized as an administrator as well as a scholar, he held a number of key posts at Temple over the years and was credited with a role in the development of the "core curriculum" plan of basic required courses forPublished on 1986-12-06, Page C15, Philadelphia Inquirer, The (PA)
