NAME: John Caldwell


Biography:


[CALDWELL, 47], a composer and longtime staff member at the University of the Arts, died Friday of AIDS at his parents' home in Clarion in Western Pennsylvania. He had lived in Center City. Mr. Caldwell worked and wrote music almost to the end. His Suite for Solo Marimba was performed last fall, and a choral work, Swift Illusions, was sung by the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus in December, said his music instructor, Harold Boatrite.
