John Lenhardt, 42, an Episcopal priest who became an activist in the gay community and pressed on with his work despite a series of debilitating strokes, died Tuesday at Pennsylvania Hospital after suffering complications from AIDS. A resident of University City for 13 years, Father Lenhardt was an assistant at St. Mary's Church, Hamilton Village, on the University of Pennsylvania campus.
