The Very Rev. Wayland Melton, born 1948, was an Assistant Dean at Haverford College – resigned in 1972 to attend Philadelphia Divinity School to become an Episcopal priest – he became longtime rector of Grace Church in Cincinnati, and was an adjunct member of the Episcopal Church’s Joint Commission on AIDS before being called as dean of the Cathedral Church of the Saviour in Philadelphia where he served briefly. Wayland was a very generous and kind man who helped many people throughout his life. He died suddenly in 1997 after a brief illness.
