Frank Tenczar, 45, a senior reporter for New Jersey Network News and winner of local television news awards, died Tuesday at his home from complications related to AIDS. Best known for his production and reporting work on feature stories, Mr. Tenczar won two local Emmy awards, one in 1986 in the Philadelphia area for individual achievement and one in Seattle in 1977 for a documentary on homosexual lifestyles. Frank Tenczar, a report and producer who won a 1977 Emmy award while at KING-TV in Seattle, has died of acquired immune deficiency syndrome. He was 45.


Tenczar, a senior producer with New Jersey Network News, died Tuesday at his home here. Tenczar received an Emmy for "Who are these people and what do they want?" a documentary about homosexuals.


He came to KING in 1971 and hosted and produced the Northwest's first weekly magazine for older citizens. He also started the weekly newsmagazine "This Week", which in 1979 received the Iris Award from the National Association of Television Program Executives as the best public service series.


In 1982 he joined the New Jersey Network.


He is survived by a longtime companion, Matthew Getman, of Jersey City.
