NAME: Alan Jiminez Fleming

Biography:

Alan Jiminez Fleming, a librarian by training and a community molder by nature, loved nothing better than teaching children how to make a vejigante, a bogeyman mask that is a parade tradition in Puerto Rico. So mask-making workshops became a hallmark of his tenure as head of the Lehigh Avenue branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia. Mr. Fleming, 45, of Center City, died Sunday of AIDS-related complications at Hahnemann University Hospital, according to his sister, Sara Fleming.
